I have been a Body Buster member since January 2013. I joined to get in shape before my wedding that summer. I kept ‘body busting’ until I took some time off after I had my son, but have been back at it since the beginning of this year.
What I like best about Body Buster is that the workouts are always different, the instructors and other members are motivating and you end up doing exercises you would never choose to do if you just went to the gym (who chooses to do burpees?). It’s tough but very rewarding. Working out in the summer in High Park is also so nice to be outdoors at the end of the work day.
When I first joined I lost 15 pounds over about 6 months before my wedding and was in the best shape I had been in years. Since rejoining in January I’ve managed to lose all of the pregnancy weight and fit back into my old clothes.
I continue with Body Buster because it is the most efficient way of getting a great workout and reenergizing throughout the week. You don’t ever get bored with the workouts and Dani is an incredibly motivating and positive instructor. I have seen the benefits of just the 2 hours a week that I come to class, in terms of both physical fitness and frame of mind.
It’s amazing seeing what your body is capable of when you challenge it, whether it is moving up from 5lb to 8lb weights when it seemed impossible when you started working out or managing to complete the 1km run in a faster time than you did 2 months before.
Being active has (intermittently) been a big part of my life, and I always feel so much better when I ensure I include time for exercise in my life. Being active and working up a sweat is a huge stress reliever and maintaining fitness means I don’t feel like I have limitations in terms of what I want to do physically. Also, burning off a ton of calories at Body Buster means you can be slightly more flexible when it comes to raiding the Halloween candy stash or having fondue for dinner(!).
Body Buster is truly the best workout I have ever tried and the loyalty of members is a testament to how much people find it to be a fantastic program. I used to be surprised when I would find out that people had been members for years, and then all of a sudden, I was one of those people who continued to sign up year after year and if I took a short break when work or life got busy I was always eager to come back.
Once you sign up all you have to do is show up – there is no thinking or decision making, which I find to be the hard part – the workout is tough, you sweat a lot and then it’s over and you feel so much better!
